An Elephant Named Ned

  by

Derby Hampton

An elephant named Ned

found some gum to chew.

And after chewing some,

through his trunk he blew.

Out from his trunk a bubble swelled,

which gave Ned quite a fright.

Ned's blowing made the bubble grow,

so large he then took flight.

As Ned was floating up,

what was he to do?

With each breath Ned blew out,

higher up he flew.

Ned floated up to outer space,

he’s headed to the moon.

Because he won’t stop blowing out,

he’ll be there very soon.

The World's Best Pet

by

Derby Hampton

The world’s best pet is called a snert.

I own one, I should know.

A snert is most remarkable,

I'll tell you why it's so.

A snert is large enough to ride,

but hold on 'cause it's fast.

My snert goes sixty miles per hour,

and riding it's a blast!

Unlike some pets that only fetch,

a snert can catch and throw.

Or, it can learn to dunk a ball

and dribble like a pro.

A snert does not learn any tricks,

it teaches them instead.

Mine taught me how to juggle things,

and stand up on my head.

To own a snert there is a hitch

of which you must be told.

All snerts are sold by leprechauns.

The price? A pot of gold!
